With all these people, Arlington has continued to win awards for its smart growth stargaties on new development. Even having over 10 stops on the Washington DC Metrorail, they are still ranked the most walkable city in the United States. In 2008, Arlington's enviromental planner celebrated receiveing a 'The Green Award', which is only given to six Washingtonians a year who help preserve and protect our enviroment by promoting green building, education and the importance of living 'green'.
